Pronombres preposicionales Españoles

Spanish Prepositional Pronouns

Let’s delve into the realm of prepositional pronouns in Spanish. As the name suggests, these pronouns follow prepositions such as por, para, de, hacia, and more.

The good news is that they are fairly easy to remember. Most of them are the same as personal pronouns, but they come after a preposition. However, there are two exceptions that differ from the standard personal pronouns: the first person singular mí/conmigo and the second person singular informal ti/contigo.

Estos son algunos ejemplos de estas dos excepciones en acción:

Estaba bailando frente a mí. (She was dancing in front of me.)

¿Puedo ir contigo al partido? (Can I come with you to the game?)

When discussing these types of pronouns, it’s crucial to keep one particular preposition in mind: con (with).

In Spanish, when we want to express that we are doing something with someone, we don’t say con mí or con ti. Instead, we use conmigo or contigo. This special rule will make a significant difference as you progress in your Spanish journey.

Keep practicing and be mindful of these pronouns’ usage, as they will enable you to express actions and connections with others accurately.
