introduction

At Interpreter Today, we are dedicated to providing top-notch British Sign Language (BSL) interpreter services to meet your communication needs. To ensure a smooth and professional working relationship with our clients, we have outlined the key terms and conditions of our services. Both parties, the Service Recipient and our interpreter, are expected to abide by these terms.


interpreter’s responsibilities

  1. Professionalism: Our interpreters conduct themselves with the utmost professionalism, adhering to the National Registers of Communication Professionals working with Deaf and Deafblind People NRCPD Code of Ethics and the Visual Language Professionals VLP Professional Standards.
  2. Confidentiality: All information shared during interpreting sessions is strictly confidential and will not be disclosed to any third party without explicit consent, except when legally or ethically required.
  3. Impartiality: Our interpreters remain neutral and impartial, ensuring they provide interpretations without expressing personal opinions or bias.
  4. Accuracy: We strive to provide accurate interpretations to the best of our abilities, acknowledging that complete accuracy may be influenced by factors beyond our control.

service recipient’s responsibilities

  1. Provide Necessary Information: To ensure effective communication, the Service Recipient must provide all relevant documents and background information to the interpreter.
  2. Respect and Professionalism: The Service Recipient is expected to treat our interpreters with respect and professionalism, refraining from behaviour that may hinder the interpreting process.

cancellation rules

  • If the Service Recipient wishes to cancel an appointment with our interpreter, we require at least 14 days notice to not incur costs. Failure to provide timely notice will result in cancellation fees as outlined below.
  • Cancellation Fees:
  • 0-7 days notice 100% of fee
  • 8-14 days notice 50% of fee

When a minimum of two interpreters is agreed but not provided on the day; the interpreter may cancel the booking at the cost of the client. Should the interpreter agree to continue alone, an additional charge: 100% of the original fee (exclusive of travel) will be added to the total fee.


payment terms

  1. Payment for services is due within 30 days of receiving the invoice. Invoices will be issued after each interpreting assignment is completed.
  2. Our rates are in line with the current Rate Card. Any rate changes will be communicated in advance.

termination

Either party may terminate this contract with written notice to the other party. Termination will not affect payment obligations for services provided before termination.


dispute resolution

In the event of a dispute, both parties agree to engage in good faith negotiations for resolution. If an agreement cannot be reached, the matter will be referred to NRCPD
